Search and category pages

Customisation is the process of matching the look, feel, and functionality of Klevu quick search, search results page and category pages to match your store.

Prerequisites

The steps outlined in this article assume some steps have already been completed:

Customising the Quick Search

The quick search is the popup window which appears as soon as you interact with the search form, and populates results as you are typing.

Within the Business Manager, navigate to the Merchant Tools → Content → Content Assets and search for the text ‘Klevu’ to find some Content Assets which are included with this integration. We are looking for klevu-quick-search-js, which contains the JavaScript used to power up the Klevu quick search.

This is powered by Klevu JavaScript Library and utilises Klevu Theme for a fast, responsive and configurable search with autocomplete functionality. You can customise any aspect of this quick search by overriding the default behaviour. Your frontend development team can add some snippets of JavaScript to hook into events and customise the integration, allowing you to change not only the look & feel but also the API calls being sent to Klevu and manipulating the response data coming back.

For examples on how to override Klevu Theme and customise your quick search, please check our JavaScript Library Documentation. Within that documentation you will find examples and snippets to copy and paste. You will be adding these to your Salesforce Content Assets.

Customising Search Results Page

Klevu uses the native Salesforce theme to render the search results page. When a search request is made, Klevu ensures the most relevant results appear in the most appropriate order, but the look & feel and functionality that the customer interacts with is entirely in your control.

Therefore if you would like to make any changes to the look&feel and functionality of your search results pages, you would do this in exactly the same way you would do it before. Please speak to your Salesforce frontend development team.

Customising Category Pages

With the Klevu Category Merchandising add-on, Klevu can also power your category pages. Similar to the Search Results Page, we control the ordering of the products on the page and leave the look & feel and functionality to you.

Therefore if you would like to make any changes to the look&feel and functionality of your category pages, you would do this in exactly the same way you would do it before. Please speak to your Salesforce frontend development team.
