Using Klevu Search events for segmentation

To use this guide, ensure that you have Klaviyo connector enabled for your store and that your Klaviyo account is receiving Klevu Search events. Learn more.

Using the “Klevu Search' event, you can create profile segments in Klaviyo to help you identify shoppers that have searched for something. To do this, you can use either Subjects (as pictured below), or Search Term Full contains.

We recommend that you optimize your segmentation strategy with topical/affinity segments: Divide your audience by their interest in different product types and categories.

You can also build engagement segments in Klaviyo using other available data, and mix Engagement Segments with topical/affinity segments to create a powerful segmentation strategy. These will be useful for creating dynamic Klevu Product Recommendations using Klaviyo segments.

Here, we will detail how to create or update topical/affinity segments using Klevu search events:

Fashion enthusiasts:

Interested in Watches:

A segment of shoppers that have searched for watches in the last 30 days.

You can also where use “Search Term Full” contains <keywords> if you want to get more targeted and specific.

You can add these Klevu Search events to existing dynamic segments, or create new Search segments to target shoppers with real-time intent.

Ideas for targeting:

  • Send an Abandoned Search Email (automatic with the flow)
  • Wait 2 days, if no purchase, enrol the contact in a related topical nurture flow.
